Research
The CAAD, Design Research & Informatics Lab is a multi-platfrom laboratory for inter-disciplinary research work conducted by the College of Architecture, Art, and Design. The lab contains UNIX (SGI), Windows 2000/XP, and MAC OS workstations running a variety of modeling, rendering, animation, simulation, CAD and multi-media software.
Packages include Alias|Wavefront Maya, 3D Studio Max, AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, Revit, Rhino, Form-Z, Premiere, After Effects, Flash, Dreamweaver, Director, PhotoShop, MicroStation and others. Peripheral equipment and capabilities include RAID arrays, printers, plotters and video output, 3D probe digitizing, scanning and, through associated programs, digital photography, laser scanning, rapid prototyping and related technologies. DRIL also contains Internet servers delivering nationally recognized Web sites.
MS Manufactured Housing

PI: Larry Barrow. Performance House 1: A CADCAM ModularHouse System. A collaborative partnership with the MSU Raspet Aerospace Lab (Director - David Lawrence), MSU Franklin Furniture Institute (FFI) (Dr. Steve Hunter), and the MSU Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems (CAVS) (Neil Littell). Research is focused on the integration of technology transfer from the aerospace, automotive and furniture industries for a high-performance ecologically sensitive house system that will sustain extreme weather events.

PI: Larry Barrow. A Katrina Cottage: A CADCAM ModularHouse System. A pre-fab wood modular system for emergency temporary housing and permanent manufactured housing system. A service project for Zitta Engineering and Purdue University collaborators in an effort to provide low-cost relief housing and economic development in Mississippi.

PI: Michael Berk. GreenMobile. In collaboration with the Carl Small Town Center (CSTC). Computer Modeling, Visualization and Manufactured Housing consulting for a sustainable, durable energy sufficient solar SIPS panel manufactured house system.
